Patchwork

Patchwork
The patchwork denim trend — once popular and now back on the streets and runways. It can definitely be a DIY project, but only if you own enough pairs of jeans you would want to recycle. You will also need some sewing skills, which I for sure lack. Of all places, I didn’t think that I would find a pair hanging on the racks at Winners. It was totally meant to be because it came in my size and fit like the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans.

Dare to Bare

Dare to Bare
The off-the-shoulder trend is not reserved only for tops, but also for cardigans. Now that we’re transitioning from summer to fall, this trend is also following along and carrying through to the new season. This knitted cardigan is beyond cozy and I love just letting it drape off of one shoulder for a relaxed weekend look. The ripped jeans was only added because of the unpredictable Canadian weather, but it worked well with the laid-back style I was going for.

Camel Comfort

Camel Comfort
It’s not easy stepping outside of my comfort zone, but I’m trying to experiment new trends and colours this season. I am typically drawn to blush, whites, creams, and blacks but I would never expect myself to pick up a camel-coloured mock neck sweater. When H&M launched online, I browsed through the entire site and for some reason, I was just drawn to this camel sweater.

The Navy Edit

The Navy Edit
Tired of wearing all black? Try navy. Because navy is the new black. This colour is a great alternative especially in the cooler season. I love the masculine and feminine combination in this outfit — the sleeveless mock neck exudes a tomboy vibe, while the lace culottes balances it out with modern femme lace details and a splash of peach outlining the lace.

Fall Back

Fall Back
Turning back the clock for Daylight Savings, but that only means darker mornings and evenings. My favourite season has always been Summer, but I'm definitely embracing the Fall season. I love seeing the autumn foliage and that the temperatures haven't dropped to the point where you will need a down jacket or UGGs. This is the season for layering and wearing turtlenecks, chunky knits and coats. I wore this leather skirt in mid-October when we were still in Fall transition, but now that it's hitting below 10 degrees celsius, a pair of tights, ankle boots and wool fedora hat are key pieces for the warmth you need.

Blush Culottes

Blush Culottes
This wide-leg trend has been growing on me and it was something that I never saw myself wearing until this year — when I tried on my very first pair. Now that we're headed into cooler temperatures, this pair is perfect because of the heavier fabric and pairs nicely with thicker knit sweaters and turtlenecks. This beige-blush wide-leg pant is tailored to suit a 9-to-5 job and sits nicely at my waist. I opted for a pair of heeled sandals for the extra height, but they'll also look great with a pair of slides or flats.

Golden Hour

Golden Hour
Wouldn’t you agree with me that the best part of the day is within the last few hours of sunlight? The lighting is magical and is perfect when it comes to shooting. We came to take some quick photos just before heading over to the Nordstrom Gala at Yorkdale Shopping Centre and caught the beautiful light just before the sun set. I wore this new navy jumpsuit from Zara, but cuffed the bottoms to help elongate my legs.
