What perfect way to start off the new year than with a fresh blog layout? At the end of every year, I sit here and stare at my blog and get sick of the design. The amazing thing about working on the Squarespace platform is that it allows you to constantly refresh your blog and website with an array of templates to choose from. I'm still in the middle of making slight tweaks, but I figured that it was good enough to launch. This new layout is much more clean in comparison to the old one and puts more emphasis on the imagery. New year, new change so why not?
And finally – the bag that I have been waiting for all my life. This Lo & Sons Waverley bag is the perfect everyday and weekend essential. It's a crossbody bag, but can also function as a pouch, belt bag (the fanny pack is back), wristlet and shoulder bag that will transition you from day to night. It comes with 3 small card pockets and 1 big slip pocket so you can fit all your quintessential items including your keys, cards, coin purse, lipstick and cellphone.
A new gem arrived in Toronto just two weeks ago and I'm excited to share it with you – it's called Oretta. An Italian-inspired restaurant with such an uplifting ambiance. As soon as you step through the doors, you will notice the colourful hues along the walls and floor tiles. I wore a muted outfit because I didn't want it to clash with the colours of the backdrop. Something simple, but feminine.
Wearing this dress one last time before the year ends. It's not exactly a dress that I thought I would be sporting at the end of the year, but paired with these sand leather ankle boots, it just works. I rediscovered this dress over the summer and fell in love with it all over again. It's such a romantic piece that I'll likely recycle again in the future.
The perfect holiday gift set contains a pair of lotion body scrubs and soap bars. I received this holiday gift set from Vo Bath & Co. and I'm already in love with the products because they are made from natural ingredients. I've shared previously that I have very sensitive skin so these are amazing! In the package, there was a Bloom and Coffee body scrub, as well as a La Femme and Detox soap bar.
Sometimes the cold weather is actually some sort of blessing in disguise. Wendy and I try to get together once every week to shoot for one another, and this past Saturday was no different. We wanted to find an indoor location this time because the temperatures dropped below zero and the flurries were coming down quickly. We winded up at Ricarda's and the space was perfect for what we needed to accomplish. The atmosphere was very inviting, grand and chic.
I love discovering beautiful architectural buildings in the city and when you stumble upon a good one, you always keep it in the back of your mind. I finally had the appropriate outfit that was fitting for this gorgeous backdrop. I wore an oversized blush pink jumper with my favourite cream wrap skirt. That's the great thing about investing in simple, minimalistic basics. I purchased this skirt about 3 years ago and it is still a staple in my wardrobe.
I’ve been wearing this faux leather skirt non-stop lately after realizing that there are not that many days left before I have to pack it away. This time, I paired it with my new Wilfred Free sweater. I love the different textures on this black on black attire so that it doesn’t look like a one-piece. It also has a relaxed silhouette, which means extra comfort for those lazy weekends. I've been living in oversized turtleneck sweaters lately and have to say that they should be every woman or man's best friend post-summer.
The patchwork denim trend — once popular and now back on the streets and runways. It can definitely be a DIY project, but only if you own enough pairs of jeans you would want to recycle. You will also need some sewing skills, which I for sure lack. Of all places, I didn’t think that I would find a pair hanging on the racks at Winners. It was totally meant to be because it came in my size and fit like the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans.
The off-the-shoulder trend is not reserved only for tops, but also for cardigans. Now that we’re transitioning from summer to fall, this trend is also following along and carrying through to the new season. This knitted cardigan is beyond cozy and I love just letting it drape off of one shoulder for a relaxed weekend look. The ripped jeans was only added because of the unpredictable Canadian weather, but it worked well with the laid-back style I was going for.
It’s not easy stepping outside of my comfort zone, but I’m trying to experiment new trends and colours this season. I am typically drawn to blush, whites, creams, and blacks but I would never expect myself to pick up a camel-coloured mock neck sweater. When H&M launched online, I browsed through the entire site and for some reason, I was just drawn to this camel sweater.
Tired of wearing all black? Try navy. Because navy is the new black. This colour is a great alternative especially in the cooler season. I love the masculine and feminine combination in this outfit — the sleeveless mock neck exudes a tomboy vibe, while the lace culottes balances it out with modern femme lace details and a splash of peach outlining the lace.
